PCS को इंग्लिश में Provincial Civil Service तथा हिन्दी मे प्रांतीय सिविल सेवा कहते है।
प्रांतीय क्या होता है ?
प्रांतीय का मतलब हम एक राज्य समझ सकते है यानी कि इनकी तैनाती इसी राज्य के अंदर अपनी सेवाएं प्रदान करेगें।
पीसीएस (PCS) अधिकारी (Officer) का चयन :
प्रांतीय सिविल सेवा के अधिकारियों का चयन प्रत्येक राज्य के सिविल सेवा चयन आयोग द्वारा किया जाता है।
जिसकी योग्यता स्नातक होता है जिन्हें प्रारंभिक परीक्षा, मुख्य परीक्षा तथा साक्षात्कार पास करने के बाद मेरिट के आधार चयन किया जाता है।
पीसीएस (PCS) अधिकारी का पद क्या होता है ?
पीसीएस यानी प्रांतीय सेवा के अधिकारी तहसील स्तर पर तैनात एसडीएम(SDM) होते है।जिनकी भूमिका तहसील क्षेत्र में महत्वपूर्ण प्रशासनिक अधिकारी की होती है।
वही इनके वरिष्ठता के आधार पर प्रमोशन होने पर इन्हें जिला स्तर पर मुख्य विकास अधिकारी(सीडीओ) तथा एडीएम(सह जिलाधिकारी प्रशासन) बनाया जाता है।
एवं बहुत से PCS अधिकारियों का बेहतरीन कार्य होने पर सरकार द्वारा इन्हें आईएएस (IAS) में प्रमोट करा आईएएस अधिकारी भी बनाया जाता है जो जिलाधिकारी के रूप में भी कार्य देखते है।
